Water Safety at Splash Swim Club

At Splash we believe that safety is first and foremost a state of mind.

You must be aware of the dangers that exist in order to maximise your chance of preventing them. Splash uses qualified teachers who have passed either a life saving qualification or the teacher’s safety test. We also assess the risks based on our experience that exist in any pool we use.

These checks include checking escape routes, ensuring there is sufficient safety equipment such as reaching aids and buoyancy aids and establishing that facilities such as first aid kits and emergency phones are present in each pool.

It also includes understanding where chemicals are stored and that they are securely located. When looking at pools we also check the depths of each part of the pool as well as the presence of appropriate signs marking the depth. We check pool logs and carry out random pool checks using our own equipment in addition to the checks run by those responsible for running the pools.

In any case Carole always carries a first aid kit, phone, torch and foil blankets to keep children warm in the event of emergency evacuation.

At our pools
Safety starts with correct control and supervision of the pupils. Starting from entry to the pool we operate a one-way system to prevent accidental entry into the pool. We always ensure that pupils do not enter the water until instructed And then only where we indicate and using the method allowed as It is potentially dangerous to dive or even jump into water that is to shallow. It can also be dangerous to dive or jump in if a collision might occur underwater. Pupils are taught after they have progressed sufficiently how to dive into a pool (with emphasis always on keeping hands linked together above the head to protect it)
